What the coils change
This is the same budget foam philosophy as the rest of the Lucid line, but with individually wrapped coils replacing the solid base foam. Three things improve as a direct result. Air can move through the mattress instead of being trapped, so it sleeps meaningfully cooler than the all-foam version. The perimeter holds its shape better, so you can sleep near the edge and sit on the side without sinking. And the mattress pushes back rather than only compressing, which makes it easier to change positions. None of this is premium hybrid performance, but each one is a real, noticeable difference from the foam model.
Feel and firmness
The coil layer makes this feel firmer and more responsive than the 12-inch all-foam Lucid despite being the same nominal height. It lands close to a true medium — supportive enough for back sleepers, forgiving enough that most side sleepers will be comfortable, and the most reasonable choice in this lineup for someone who changes positions through the night. Strict stomach sleepers will still want something firmer.
Where the budget shows
The coils are not zoned, so there is no extra reinforcement under the hips where most people need it. The comfort foam above them is the same grade used across the Lucid range, which means it will soften before the coil unit does. And motion isolation is a step down from the all-foam version — coils transmit movement that solid foam absorbs, so a restless partner is more noticeable here.
