Deserving purchase
I waited 6 months after receiving the mattress before posting this review. If it had been a week I probably would have given it 3 stars, but now I’m all in with a 5 star feedback. We went from a spring pillowtop mattress to this memory foam and it was just a different feel. Not necessarily a bad feel, just more firm and supportive. Now we love this mattress. We both now wake up without the aches and pains mainly because this mattress provides complete even support all over. It was a little odd getting a hundred pound king size mattress in a box but it unfolded just fine. After getting the mattress unfolded we left it untouched for 48 hours. This is key to letting it fully expand and flatten! One corner did not completely flatten for a few days but it’s all good now. I highly recommend this mattress if you are having any back pain. We are side and stomach sleepers and it’s been amazing for us. I can sleep on my side now without having shoulder pain in the morning. Also you will feel very little movement from the other person. If you try, give it at least a full 30 days so your body gets used to it. —Jon
Love this mattress
The bed is very comfortable, had absolutely no odor. Buying the king-size mattress, I received the 102 pound rolled up bed-in-a-box at my front door. Although it was a prime purchase, it was a five day arrival period rather than the two. Therefore, I deducted one star and gave it a four star rating. Used to a Tempurpedic pillow-top mattress, I found the Shea bed’s structure and materials to be softer and more cradling. This slight softness permitted this side sleeper to have a great night’s rest. Highly recommend. Update: Two months have passed and this mattress’feel and support have retained its superior quality. My husband and I are thrilled with this medium to firm mattress’cradling abilities. I am thrilled that the bed supports your body, but does not swallow it. In other words, I like a slightly forgiving mattress, but I truly love its resistance. In my opinion, be patriotic and buy a USA manufactured mattress; buy a mattress with the proper certifications; buy a mattress with s reasonable warranty period; and finally, buy a mattress that is highly rated by Amazon customers, but whose manufacturer does not participate in expensive marketing and advertising practices (like Casper or Purple) - this will result in less overhead for the manufacturer and will undoubtedly allow the mattress to be sold at a reasonable price. As such, Sleep Innovations’ products meet my requirements.—beth

First Impressions Weren't Good, But Got (Much) Better
This will be a multi-entry review. This is the first (which will cover delivery, installation, and first impressions). Initial Review : The shipping carrier delivered this and manhandled the box to the door. The box says it's a two-person operation, but the driver was by himself so he did the best he could. Not only did he do fairly well, but the mattress was protected with a box liner within the outer box. The liner saved the mattress as the shipping box took quite a beating in transit. Following instructions, we (my wife and I) man-handled the mattress to the bedroom and carefully removed the plastic (tarp-like) restraining band, as well as the plastic bag the mattress is vacuum-packed in. Unlike other foam mattresses we have owned (such as the DreamFoam Mattress Ultimate Dreams 13-Inch Gel Memory Foam Mattress, Queen) this mattress did not come rolled; instead, it came folded (like an accordion). —X. Like This Bed, But Edges Still Won't Lay Down
So after a ton of research online about foam mattresses and being really sure we didn't want to buy at a big-box store, my husband and I set out to review all our options. We finally narrowed it down to this mattress and another. We pulled the trigger and ordered this for our master bedroom. Once it was delivered, we unpackaged it on the bed and left it alone for 48 hours per recommendation for it to expand. It took almost perfect shape within 12 hours fully probably, but we wanted to wait to make sure. This has been a few months now that we've been sleeping on it and my only complaint is that it still curves up on all the edges. It's not too apparent when it's made, but when it's just the sheet or stripped for washing you can tell it looks like a wide "U". I haven't noticed that it forces us to slip to the middle or anything like that. My husband (with preference for soft) and myself (preference for hard) like it a lot. You can't do the wine glass at the end of the bed while jumping trick on this one, though. You can most certainly feel when someone enters or leaves the bed - or even rolls over heavily. We haven't noticed any issues other than the shape though. There was no smell or discoloration whatsoever. I want to give it more time to make sure that this will be our permanent mattress and not get shoved to the guest room, but for now it seems to work great for us. I will note, you will need deeper sheets for this bed. We have two standard queen set sheets that do not stretch to fit this bed!—Rachel Handing

Sleep Innovation Alden Memory Foam Mattress Review
Didn’t live up to my expectation
I purchased a 14" mattress for $521 three weeks ago. After all this time it still hasn't expanded past 12 1/2". In fact it stopped expanding after the first 24 hours. As you can see from the pic, there is extra material where the foam should have filled it. I could have saved a lot of money if I purchased the 12" bed but, would that bed just expand to 10 1/2"? This is FALSE advertisement! It's sad because I really love this company's pillows and was excited to buy a bed by them. Instead, I feel ripped off and misled. If this bed was advertised as a 12" and I got a 1/2 more, I would have been ecstatic! Come on people, size matters---especially in a product's description. —patterson
Far from what it is described
I was not happy with it; this bed is very firm with almost no give, which is not how it is described. I have been wresting with it since. I was hoping over time it would get better. After a year of sleeping on it I tried turning the mattress in hopes that my husband's side might have become softer than mine, but no such luck. I tried a $175 pillow top mattress cover, and every type of pillow you can imagine. In the end I have been dealing with hip pain and frequent headaches since I bought it a year and 5 months ago. The chiropractor is able to alleviate some of this, but never enough so the pain and discomfort is always there. I missed the return window as we were moving at the time and Amazon customer service was not able to get me an answer on how to return it before the deadline expired. Now I am stuck with this bed and still paying for it. 🙁 The only good thing I can say is that it's exactly as firm as it was when we bought it, unfortunately we did not want a firm mattress and it is not described as being a firm mattress.—T. Beautifully Made
I purchased and slept on a very expensive $4000 Tempur-Pedic King sized mattress for the four long years when I lived in Shanghai, and I didn't like it except in spring and fall. It was like sleeping on a cold brick in the winter and a hot sweaty soft mattress in the summer. I left it behind. This mattress is more firm than I originally thought. When I sat on the edge of the mattress, it seems to be very soft because I sink into the mattress. However, when I sleep on it, it is actually rather firm. And that's because my weight is more distributed instead of being concentrated in one spot when I sit on the edge.. This mattress is 60 inches wide and 82 inches long and a little more than 10 inches thick. You can get a thicker mattress, but I don't think it will affect the firmness. The last two name brand conventional mattresses I purchased were several inches smaller than standard in both width and length..The furniture store refused to take them back. Fortunately, this mattress is a normal size, but not quite as thick as my conventional spring mattress. The additional width and length offset the thickness difference for a fitted sheet, so that works for me. It was amazing to watch this mattress inflate and take shape after taking it out of the shipping box. It is even more amazing that it fit inside the shipping box. I've included a photo sequence to show you what to expect. The Sleep Innovations 12 inch mattress has an astounding 3383 overwhelmingly positive reviews. I just wish I had known about Sleep Innovations mattresses before now. —M Cox

Description doesn’t match but pretty good mattress otherwise
Should be noted that this mattress is made by Innocor and carries a 10-year warranty, not a 20-year warranty as was originally stated in the product description when I purchased it. Also, the Sleep Innovations website reads that it is fine to place this mattress on the floor to sleep on, but the instructions that came with the Innocor mattress read that a solid flat surface such as the floor is not recommended, due to lack of ventilation. Very confusing but it's not a bad mattress. The mattress was surprisingly firm and stays very cool. Anyway, due to innacurate website description, Amazon refunded me the cost of the mattress and allowed me to keep the mattress anyway because the mattress had already expanded and was unreturnable. Why Consumer Reports had listed it as one of the firmer ...
This mattress is not nearly as firm as it is advertised. Consumer Reports had given it a good review, listing it as one of the firmer mattresses in the gel memory category. Simply put, it is not nearly as firm as a regular mattress. I have had it for almost six months now and, effectively, it is no different than the mattress it replaced, a 12 year old Serta Posture Pedic. If you are looking for a good firm mattress, I suggest you don't make the mistake I did, going with a memory gel. Instead, go with a regular mattress. Probably not a good idea to purchase off the internet, too. Some items simply need to be seen and felt before purchasing; a mattress is one of them. —Johnny Waits

VERY comfortable while a lot of worries
So I will try and make this helpful. I looked at every review for this mattress and decided to give it a try. I am 5'10 tall and weigh 235. Im a side sleeper. I work shift work (mostly 1-11pm and have little kids that get me up around 6am every morning. Also, I live in Phoenix Arizona and got this mattress mid summer. This mattress is arrived quickly and once opened obtained full form within short order. Probably took a couple hours to fully expand. there were two small indentations about 8 inch across at two of the corners of the mattress. Not a big deal for us with where there were located on the mattress. I was worried about how firm the mattress felt when I first got into bed. That quickly went away. Although firm, it was VERY comfortable. I was also worried that it would be too hot. I DO NOT LIKE SLEEPING HOT. The first night felt a little warm for me but it has not been a problem since. I am thinking it was all in my head. As mentioned before, I don't get too much sleep and had developed some terrible bags under my eyes. Since buying and sleeping on this bed, they have almost gone away. I have been sleeping on this mattress for about a month no. This mattress felt too firm at first but what I have noticed is as your body heat reflects into the mattress, it softens up and your body sinks into it slightly as it conforms to your body. It provided the support where you need it as well. I no longer wake up with aches and pains. Too me, this mattress is a sound investment especially for the money. —Nicola,M
